National fishing management fee

All fishers between 18 and 64 years of age must pay the national fishing management fee. This can be paid either for a day (€6/day) for a week (€15/week) or for a calendar year (€45/year). The national fishing management fee is available at authorized sales offices (e.g. R-kioski and Kuusamo Info, Metsähallitus Nature Services Customer Service Point). The fee can be paid by a bank transfer directly to the account of Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The fisher must be able to show a receipt of the payment at all times
when fishing.

It is possible to pay the national fishing management fee online at www.mmm.fi

Please note the following rules:

• Fishing with hook and line using natural bait (worm or fish) in lakes and ponds is included in everyman’s rights
• Fishing with hook and line is prohibited in running waters and in water areas marked prohibited under some other provision
• Fishing with a lure or a fly is allowed in river areas; the use of live bait is prohibited in running waters rich in salmon and whitefish

The local fishing permit can be either a permission granted by a local fishery collective or an integrated permit (covering the area of several fishery collectives and/or water areas belonging to other holder of the fishing right).

For lure fishing all fishers between 18 and 64 years of age must pay the national fishing management fee, as well as purchase the lure fishing licence. This may be either the provincial lure fishing licence or permission granted by the holder of the fishing right.

No littering!

A considerate fisherman leaves only fishing stories to the riverside.

He carries his rubbish back to civilization.
